Job Summary
The Sanitation Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for the residents of Happyville. This position involves the collection and proper disposal of residential and commercial waste, recyclables, and yard debris, as well as contributing to public cleanliness initiatives and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate sanitation trucks and related equipment on assigned routes
- Collect and transport refuse, recyclables, and yard waste
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal sanitation regulations
- Inspect and report issues related to waste containers, illegal dumping, and roadway obstructions
- Participate in town-wide clean-up efforts, festivals, and public works emergencies
- Maintain sanitation equipment in safe and operable condition
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in sanitation, waste management, or a related field
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather conditions
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
- Familiarity with recycling procedures and municipal waste regulations a plus
